    with preference for candidates that live nearby or at Lost Valley)
    Job Type: Part-time (10 hours/week)
    Compensation: $17/hour, with additional housing compensation for the
    right candidate, should they apply & pass the residency process at
    Lost Valley Education Center & Meadowsong Ecovillage

    About Lost Valley Education Center:

    Lost Valley is a nonprofit bioregional learning center that educates youth and adults in the practical application of sustainable living skills. Lost Valley is also a 35-year-old intentional community practicing cooperative ecological living. Our mission is reflected in three core focus areas: 

    • Offering holistic education, where individuals learn about non-hierarchical community governance, ecological stewardship, and regenerative farming

    • Modeling sustainable practices, serving as a regional and national example in permaculture, habitat restoration, and regenerative community development

    • Providing access to land and affordable housing for low-income and historically underserved individuals to engage in regenerative livelihoods.

    Position Overview:

    Lost Valley Education Center is seeking a passionate and creative Social Media and Outreach Coordinator to enhance our online presence, engage our community, and support our mission to educate youth and adults in the practical application of sustainable living skills. This role will be responsible for content creation, social media management, community outreach, and digital marketing. The ideal candidate has experience using Flodesk, Canva, Loomly, Google Ads, Squarespace, and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) to create engaging content and grow our audience. Ideally, candidates also have knowledge and interest in permaculture to create relevant and educational materials.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Social Media Management & Content Creation

    • Develop, schedule, and manage social media content across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn using Loomly.

    • Design visually compelling posts, infographics, and reels using Canva and other graphic design tools.

    • Create and edit engaging video content for reels and stories to increase audience engagement.

    • Develop educational content focused on permaculture, communities, land stewardship, and regenerative livelihoods.

    • Monitor, respond to, and engage with followers to build community and drive interaction.

    • Track and analyze social media metrics to measure effectiveness and optimize strategy.

    Digital Marketing & Advertising

    • Develop and manage paid advertising campaigns on Google, Facebook, and Instagram to increase reach and engagement.

    • Be proficient in Squarespace to support the management of Lost Valley’s website to ensure a professional and engaging online presence.

    • Utilize social media best practices to enhance visibility and engagement.

    Email Marketing & Outreach

    • Write and design newsletters using Flodesk to communicate with supporters and promote events, programs, and fundraising campaigns.

    • Maintain and grow email subscriber list.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure outreach efforts align with organizational goals.

    Partnerships & Fundraising Support

    • Coordinate with other organizations, partners, and stakeholders to promote joint initiatives and fundraising campaigns.

    • Support fundraising efforts by creating compelling digital campaigns and donor engagement strategies.

    Event Promotion & Coordination

    • Work closely with internal departments to develop promotional strategies for educational programs, workshops, and events.

    • Create event marketing materials and social media campaigns to maximize participation and awareness.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Passion for social media management, digital marketing, and outreach, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

    • Skill in graphic design, content creation & video editing.

    • Proficiency in all major social media platforms, as well as Squarespace, Flodesk, Canva, Loomly, or other similar programs and tools

    • Experience with or ability to learn Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and Instagram Ads.

    • Strong copywriting and storytelling skills

    • Ability to analyze engagement metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    • Knowledge and interest in permaculture and sustainability.

    • Ideally, experience with website management and SEO, but this is not required as long as there is willingness to learn.

    • If a candidate does not currently meet all listed skills & qualifications, we are open to hearing from them if they are quick learners, driven, and self-directed!

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Hourly rate: $17/hour for 10 hours per week. Housing compensation also provided for the right candidate, should they be invited to live at Lost Valley.
