Administrative internship

 

The work week will consist of:

  • Primarily directed by the needs of the Bookkeeper and the timing of meetings. The work trader will be required to schedule appointments with other staff members who require their services. A mutually agreeable work schedule can be worked out between the Bookkeeper and the Work Trader upon arrival.

  • Intern will be required to take notes at multiple meetings throughout the week, including Stewardship Council on Tuesdays between 1:30 and 3:30 PM, bi-weekly Community Meetup on Thursdays between 4 and 6 PM, and a bi-weekly Board Meeting, schedule pending.

Projects Include (not limited to):

  • Bookkeeping, invoicing

  • Monthly small charges tracking

  • Note taking at multiple meetings

  • Assist with creating position-specific policies & procedure manuals

  • Other special projects as needed -- this is a very dynamic role and projects vary! Previous interns have had opportunities to support grant or fundraising efforts, assemble budgets for different projects, program databases, and so on. What projects are available will depend in part on your skill set, interests, and the needs of the organization when you arrive.

Lost Valley Educational Center is looking for an administrative intern to join our team this season!

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the bookkeeper with mail sorting, filing paperwork, collecting and entering transaction information and creating invoices.

  • Intern will assist multiple staff members with updating or creating policies and procedures manuals.

  • Intern will assist the maintenance department with administrative tasks on an as-needed basis, as outlined by the Bookkeeper.

  • The Site department needs help sorting and filing paperwork, digital and hard copy, assistance creating a residency user manual, and updating and organizing documents.

  • Intern will be expected to provide their own functional laptop. Skill at touch typing is a requirement for this position. Applicants will need to provide a three minute touch typing test certificate demonstrating a typing skill of at least 60 words per minute with 95% accuracy. This test can be taken for free here.   • The intern will be required to participate in an ongoing office renovation project. Tasks may vary and will include scanning hard copy files into Google Drive, cleaning out desk cabinets and rearranging furniture, and painting. Intern should be willing and able to bend, lift, and carry a minimum of 25 lbs, and should be able to be on their feet for several hours at a stretch.

  • Interns are required to have a strong knowledge of and comfort with Google Workspace of programs, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar. Other software used in this position includes Quickbooks and scanning software. Training in Quickbooks can be provided for the right applicant.

  • Intern should be comfortable making phone calls to vendors and organizations, scheduling appointments, and tracking project status.

  • Intern must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Intern must have the ability to stay organized, to prioritize tasks, and to work without direct supervision once trained. Intern will work on many different projects not listed here during their time in this program. Flexibility and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once are important skills for this role.

  • Interested applicants should plan to stay for three months, as the staff time required to provide training to the work trader makes shorter stays cost prohibitive.
