2009 December Permaculture Design GraduatesFrom rainwater catchment systems to soil building, chicken management to surveying the land, this year's Winter PDC students walked away with concrete skills and knowledge to lessen their human impact and empower others to do the same. Highlights of this course included hands-on forest management, rain garden creation, compost and soil building (with urine as one of the best nitrogen fixers!) and of course, the always entertaining untalent show! Many thanks to instructors Jude Hobbs, Marisha Auerbach, and Rick Valley. Jude and Rick have been co-teaching this same course for 19 years running, with Marisha co-teaching for the last few years as well. Students came to us from across the country, and outside of it, bringing a great perspective - from Maine to Washington state, Canada to South Africa, and included quite the range of professions - from an artist to a venture capitalist to a farmer. Thanks students! Best of luck to the current graduates as they share their knowledge and spread the permaculture ethic of caring for the earth, caring for people, and fair share! Throw those seed balls, propogate some fruit trees, plant a permaculture garden and share the abundance!
